Do Your Employees Have COVID Fatigue?

COVID fatigue is a crucial problem for organizations.  According to a recent study by the Center for Workplace Mental Health at the American Psychiatric Association, 78% of adults say the pandemic is a significant source of stress.

This has been an especially difficult time for working parents who are not only trying to fulfill their work obligations but who have also been wearing the hats of teachers, cooks, and housekeepers at home.

What can you do as an employer?

  • Check-in regularly with employees to ask about their well being

  • Consider adding an Employee Assistance Plan with access to counseling sessions as a benefit

  • Have a mental health professional educate you and your managers so you can spot troubled employees and initiate conversations to offer help

  • Bolster child care and elder care benefits

The end of the pandemic is getting closer but these issues are going to remain for some time to come.  The cost of hiring good employees is enormous, so make sure to invest your time and provide the help your employees need to recover mentally and stay within your organization.
